With all due respect, this is a very limited example you gave and would not be applicable in many software projects outside simple CRUD web and mobile application. I have been programming a VFX engine for a studio for couple of years now. There are many algorithms and solutions that require nested ifs and it would be impossible to implement without nested ifs. Get into the world of game dev, audio programming, graphics programming, simulations, etc and your example here would fall short. Unfortunately, most programmers will only ever program basic websites and web apps in their entire lives and miss out on the vast amount of interesting problems and thought process involved in more complex applications.
