The web is a broken mess and a poor example of quality software. Also, low-effort, poorly funded open-source github crapware cannot have "higher standards" than proprietary software backed by a proper company. Most of the impressive software Visual Studio, MS Office, AAA games, Unreal engine, Houdini, Maya, Max, Tableau, FLStudio, Davinci-resolve, Boeing and Airbus software, Cutting edge medical software, etc. Are not open-source. You can kind the open-source version for most of what I mentioned and they are just plain inferior!
