I disagree that julie is doing more good than James. If everybody was working for charity, we would all be beggars. Bridges, vehicles, websites, apps, electronics, engines, etc need to be built. That is how our world functions. It's funny how you dismiss the work facebook does. Facebook created multiple useful development frameworks like reactJS and graph QL. without these, you would not even have written this article. Facebook has also helped a lot of "activists" to create awareness. The truth is we all make impact in different ways. Charity is luxury. I can only feed you if I myself have eaten. Facebook/Meta also gives a lot of free stuff to people, give out scholarship, free courses and they also pay huge salaries to people around the world. Charity organisations do nothing other than spend other people's hard earned money.
Also a lot of people make useful stuff on the internet, so yes if the internet disappears, a lot of their useful work will go with it too. I'm talking about people who have written different software, songs, poetry, art online. You might want to take your own advice and build something useful rather than clout chasing on medium. You probably got paid for this article without making any impact so you are just as bad as those you are trying to criticise.
