Data visualisation is one of the topics I always found interesting. It plays a significant role in finance, info-graphics, journalism, public relations, engineering, etc. In fact, one can argue that all industries could benefit from using data visualisation to better present and digest information. The really popular ones like Tableau, Excel and Power BI already meet the needs of most people who want to visualise data. However, after months of searching the web trying different visualisation tools, I think you should give these five tools a try. Some of them have features that lots of other data visualisation software do not have.

Flourish:

Flourish studio is a really cool visualisation tool that comes with a lot of charts out of the box. It also comes with some pre-loaded data that would allow you to see how the charts work, out of the box. I would also argue that this is the easiest visualisation tool to use. There are also some built-in animated charts in here. There are free and paid plans for this software.

Datawrapper

Just like Flourish studio, Datawrapper is a web-based visualisation tool. It is easy for you to input data for visualisation. I love this tool for its very rich map-chart. You might want to stick to the free version of this software because the paid version costs up to $599 a month. The free version is packed with features but you have to deal with the “created with Datawrapper” attribution.

CLUBASID

This one is the most unique data visualisation tool that I have come across. It looked like some media player the first time I saw it. The cool thing is that it allows you to create lots of animated charts so easily. It has a free version and a paid version of $199.99 for lifetime licence.

Virtualitics

This one also has a very interesting user interface. It had lots of 3D graphs that would help you visualise data in 3 dimensional space. There are some tutorials on their YouTube channel that could get you up and running on the basics of using the software.

Databox

Databox is another web-based data visualisation tool. It is able to plot a lot of basic charts and it is able to create beautiful dashboards. The cheapest paid plan (the “starter” plan) is $72 a month
